The Amathus Beach Hotel with its dynamic raked beach facing facade was designed by the modernist architect Walter Gropius in the nineteen seventies. Over the last fifty years the beach front gardens have matured and are now a verdant setting for the hotel.

Our brief was to design a thirteen storey luxury apartment extension to the existing hotel facilities. The first seven levels of the new building mimics the raked facade of the original hotel and then continue vertically to be crowned by duplex penthouse apartments. The design of the extension has radiused edges that soften the visual appearance of the facade giving the building a modern language that complements and respects the simple lines of original hotel design.
