Bahrain has a long history of Dhow building and the simple and elegant double curve of the apartment and hotel/serviced apartment buildings are inspired from the sails of these traditional boats. The award winning design integrates indoor and outdoor areas seamlessly with great views of the adjacent Grand Canal and the sea. The name of the island of Dilmunia is inspired by the ancient civilisation of Dilmun, which is believed to be the original Garden of Eden.

The concept celebrates this ancient civilisation by incorporating terraced gardens that cover the private apartment resort deck and hang down into the two-storey pedestrianised open air retail complex below.
